A Day Inside Our Bakery Kitchen
Go behind the scenes and see how our team preps, bakes, and packs your favorite treats.
You do not need a professional piping kit to make cupcakes look like they came from a bakery counter. A few simple habits make all the difference.
Buttercream that is too soft will not hold a swirl, and buttercream that is too stiff will tear as you pipe. Aim for a texture that holds a peak on a spoon without slumping — if it is humid where you are baking, chill the bowl for 10 minutes before piping.
Hold the bag upright, about half an inch above the cupcake, and apply steady, even pressure. Start from the outside edge and spiral inward, then release pressure before lifting away to avoid a peak that flops over.
A light dusting of cocoa powder, a few fresh berries, or a drizzle of ganache can elevate a simple swirl instantly. Keep decorations minimal — two or three elements look far more polished than a cupcake piled high with toppings.
Practice your swirl on a plate first if you are new to piping. It costs nothing and lets you get the pressure and angle right before committing to the real thing.
